Stephanie Cowley is an extraordinary watercolour artist who specialises in painting the amazing natural world. Painting seven days a week, Steph brings awareness to conservation and protection.
A love for the environment and a strong moral compass led Stephanie to study law but her creativity had other ideas. After deciding to then move to FNQ to study event management, she became overwhelmed with inspiration from the natural world around her. She began painting in her spare time and selling her pieces at the local markets. Much to her surprise, her first market was a sell out, consequently giving her the courage to follow her artistic passion.
"Conservation is at the heart of everything I paint. My designs are mainly painted from encounters I have had or of creatures that need a voice."
Now six years later, Steph’s work is in demand Australia wide and her fiancé Dave is her full time printer and admin extraordinaire! Together they help to educate and bring awareness to protecting the environment while keeping their own footprint as small as possible.
Before moving back to Port Douglas, Steph had a close relationship with the Sydney Children's Hospital, teaching kids both in the hospital school and with bedside learning. She explains that "the children are just amazing with their boundless energy and immense resilience no matter what they are going through."
In her spare time, you'll find Steph and Dave going out for a dive or snorkel at the reef or going on a long hike through the rainforest! They adore being outside and live a healthy active lifestyle with their new puppy Charlie.
